The Coverage You Need at an Affordable Rate
We work with numerous insurance firms to find the most suitable plan for your needs and present you with favourable car insurance quotes. Factors that impact your rate include where you reside, age and experience and driving record.
Where you Reside: Your location influences your car insurance rates. Insurance laws vary from province to province, and rates will differ based on whether you reside in a rural or urban zone. You may have higher premiums if you reside in a highly populated area. More vehicles in urban zones mean a higher probability of collisions. And living in low-population areas (e.g. rural locations) means you could enjoy reduced rates compared to your metropolitan peers.
Age and Experience: Insurance firms assess statistics based on age and experience. This assessment determines the number of motor vehicle accidents by age group. And the resulting data is calculated to determine different risk factors. If the data reveals younger drivers are more at risk for accidents, their premiums may be increased. Likewise, the data may indicate a higher collision frequency for people at or past a certain age. Your driving experience will influence how an insurance firm evaluates your collision risk level. Insurance firms presume novice drivers are a greater risk than someone more experienced. You will qualify for reduced premiums after several years of safe driving.
Driving Record: Your road conduct is important to an insurance provider. If your driving record is clean, it could lower rates compared to someone with many claims or traffic violations. Responsible driving allows you to save in the long term.
Protect Yourself from Financial Liability
Liability Insurance
Enjoy peace of mind with Liability Insurance; this insurance plan covers property damage and accidental injuries. It may also offer coverage for medical costs, missed wages, lawful defence and court expenses. Liability insurance is required across Canada (the minimum rate fluctuates from province to province).
Collision Insurance
Collision Coverage safeguards you from direct vehicle damages. For example, the coverage takes effect when or if:
- Your vehicle collides with an object
- Another driver hits you
- Your vehicle sustains damage by a hit-and-run.
Comprehensive Insurance
Stay protected with Comprehensive Coverage. This policy pays for damages endured outside of a car accident. Some costs that may be covered include:
- Theft
- Vandalism
- Damages due to water and fire
Accident Forgiveness
Were you involved in your first at-fault accident? Accident forgiveness ensures your premiums won’t increase. You will retain a good driving record if you remain with the same firm. There are numerous car insurance policies available. Based on your residence, some coverage options may be mandated, while others are discretionary. To ensure you’re covered with the proper policy, learn the conditions before choosing your plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the role of a car insurance broker?
What factors determine Alberta car insurance rates?
- The make, model, and year of your car
- The cost of your car
- Where you live and the risk of theft or vandalism around your area
- How much your car is used
- Your driving record, including past insurance claims
- Your age and gender
How can I reduce my car insurance in Alberta?
Many insurance companies offer discounts for age milestones, being an infrequent driver, completing a driver’s education course, and using safety devices in your car. Ask your broker if your insurance company offers any of these and if you qualify.
If your insurance company offers discounts for bundling your auto insurance with your tenant or homeowners insurance, consider purchasing multiple policies through them. The longer you stay with your insurance company, the more likely they’ll also offer a loyalty discount.
Depending on the age of your vehicle, you may consider removing collision coverage from your policy to save on your premiums if you don’t need the extra coverage. You can also select a higher deductible to reduce premiums, but you’ll be responsible for paying more of a deductible if you are in a collision or have a claim.
Staying safe and driving responsibly will keep your premiums low, as speeding tickets, driving offences, and at-fault collisions can impact your premiums.
Can another driver drive my car in Alberta?
Am I covered if items are stolen from my car?
What do I do if I’ve been in a collision?
First and foremost, if anyone is injured or you think the other driver may be guilty of a Criminal Code offence, such as drunk driving, call 911. Once you’ve assessed that everyone’s safety is secure, follow these steps:
- Do not leave the scene of the collision. It may be a criminal offence to do so.
- If there are injuries or if the damage is greater than $2,000, you have a legal obligation to report the collision to the police. You can do so by calling the police to report the collision; depending on the situation, they may instruct you to visit the nearest police station to report the collision.
- If it’s safe, move the vehicles to the side of the road. If the vehicles aren’t drivable, turn on the hazard lights or surround the vehicles with cones or warning triangles if available.
- Regardless of the circumstances, never admit fault for the collision, never sign any documents regarding fault and never promise to pay for the damages.
- Record all collision details. Use IBC’s Collision Report Form. Record what happened, how, when, where and why, and weather and road conditions. If possible, take cellphone photos of the vehicle damage.
- Collect names, addresses, licence plate numbers, insurance details and contact information for all drivers, passengers and witnesses.
- Call a tow truck if your vehicle is unsafe to drive.
- Report the collision to your insurer as soon as possible. You may be eligible for benefits if you are injured in the collision. Submit claims forms as instructed by your insurance company.
